how do you decide where the backstitch goes in a cross stitch pattern maker?
I have made a cross stitch pattern with dmc cross stitch pattern maker but do not know where to put the back stitches does any one know how I can determine where to put them. Thanks
My husband makes his own cross stitch pattens and this is his response: “place backstitching anywhere there’s anything that needs isolating and outlining from the rest of the picture, eg, a bird’s wing, where the cat stops and the desk begins, the bend of the tiger’s legs, the mouth, eyes, where the lily pad stops and the frog begins, anywhere that makes the picture clearer and easier to see. It’s a matter of eye-balling the design and seeing what needs to stand out from the rest of the picture.” He also says: “I like to emphasize textures with backstitches. Sometimes I add wood grain to furniture, or add fur line to animals or feather lines to birds. It’s not needed, but it makes the picture stand out from the crowd when I enter them in shows.” And that’s what my hubby says.
